The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Franklin (TN) residents Janet Melsa and Janet Daleuski display the artwork they created under the supervision of social worker and certified holistic life coach Janay Moreland with Vivid Classic Creations. Once a month, Moreland walks the memory care community’s residents through an art project, allowing them to be creative while providing step-by-step instructions to make a beautiful piece of art. “Studies have shown that art therapy can increase concentration, boost self-esteem, and facilitate communication in those living with dementia. We are so grateful to Janay for allowing our residents to get in touch with their creative sides,” says Lantern executive director Ashley Briggs.
