Morning Pointe of Knoxville (TN) resident Jim Merritt, Central Baptist Church of Bearden volunteer Maria Sills, resident Nancy Merritt, Central Baptist volunteers Dorcas Hughes and Claire Hughes, and residents MaryAnne Cofer and Bob Cofer. Volunteers from the church visited the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community to minister to the residents with singing and a sermon on the 23rd Psalm. Afterward, the residents and volunteers spent time together as they worked on a craft project, creating knotted blankets using fleece supplied by the church. “When the residents finished making their blankets, they were left with a nice token by which to remember the volunteers who spent time with and listened to them,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Pat Anderson. “We are looking forward to them coming again one day next summer!”
