Morning Pointe of Tullahoma (TN) resident Golda Glasgow makes “acorn cookies” as part of a weekly Cooking Corner activity led by the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community’s food service director, Jackie Nelms. Every Wednesday, Nelms teaches the residents how to prepare a fun treat, such as “acorn cookies” assembled from Nutter Butter cookies, peanut butter, Hershey’s Kisses, and chocolate chips, and these treats are often shared with volunteers or at group activities such as Bible studies. “Our residents love Jackie’s cooking activities because they are able to take part in a favorite hobby while also giving back to the community,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Jennifer Boals. “We’re so grateful to Jackie for making these activities happen!”
