Morning Pointe of Hixson (TN) residents Dot Hilliard, Barbara Erickson, Pat Arnold, and Doris Shirk reminisce as they shuck farm-fresh, local corn together. While they worked, the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community’s residents had fun sharing stories of growing up on farms, where they often shucked corn as part of their weekly chores. “The ladies really enjoyed shucking corn, and they talked about snapping green beans next time,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Christine Rivers. “Their hard work paid off the following day when our food service team grilled corn on the cob for all of our residents. Nothing is better than fresh vegetables straight from the farm, and we work to provide local produce for our residents when it is in season as part of our ‘Farm-to-Table’ dining program at Morning Pointe.”
