Cornerstone Church of Knoxville’s Compassion Team presented their first Music Café at Morning Pointe of Knoxville (TN), treating the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community’s residents to an afternoon of music, games, and fellowship. “With so many extended families spread out across the country, multi-generational family gatherings have become rare. We desire to give our families opportunities to serve seniors in our community through an interactive time of singing, reminiscing, and games,” says Melanie Cahill, the Compassion Team’s leader, elaborating on the idea behind the service project.
Morning Pointe life enrichment director Pat Anderson agrees. “We are so thankful to CCK’s Compassion Team for volunteering their time and resources in order to brighten our residents’ day,” Anderson says. “Everyone enjoyed the café so much that the church has offered to come back and host a Music Café once a month. We’re already looking forward to their next visit!”
