Louisville, KY July 2015- As Morning Pointe of Louisville gets ready to offer the public a ‘Sneak Peek” of the city’s newest senior living community, the first of many residents are preparing to move in and call the personal care facility home.
Rod and Mary Lou Dempsey are one of the first couples that will make the move later in August. The Dempsey’s, have called Louisville home since 1995. Mary Lou has a long history of government service serving under three Governors in the state of Kentucky. She actually helped start the very first self-insurance program in the commonwealth state. Rod also worked in government serving in the office for economic development for 17 years recruiting industry to Kentucky.
Now pushing 80 and living in an independent living community, the Dempsey’s felt it was time to make a move to Morning Pointe of Louisville so they could get the additional daily assistance they need and their long-term insurance is helping them pay for it. “I am excited,” says Rod. “We need more engagement and this will fill a need in our lives.” As his wife’s caregiver, Dempsey says he is looking forward to having the extra help. He says he wants to learn about memory loss caregiving techniques and is looking forward to both of them being more active and involved, plus they get to bring their cat Ladybug. “We are looking forward to a new experience,” says Rod.
The Dempsey’s also plan to take part in the special “Sneak Peek” at Morning Pointe of Louisville. He and Mary Lou along with the greater public will get a chance to see Louisville’s newest personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care community before it is even open to the public. Participants will be able to tour the building and check out the amenities even meet the staff. And, the Dempsey’s will be able to see their apartment. “Getting excited; the move is around the corner,” smiles Rod.
