Morning Pointe of Clinton gets visits from many volunteers, including Monique Helton, once a respite resident at the assisted living community.
Years ago, Helton chose to stay at Morning Pointe while recovering from a serious illness. After regaining strength, she decided that she wanted to give back.
Helton got in touch with LuAnn Hanchett, Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe. Ever since, she has paid a visit every Wednesday morning to volunteer.
As part of the Life Enrichment Program, the assisted living community welcomes local volunteers with talents of all sorts to spend quality time with the residents.
The French-born volunteer moved to Tennessee 50 years ago after meeting her husband at a military base in Limoges, France.
When asked about her passion for volunteerism, she says she wanted to do something to help people because it makes her feel useful.
Making friends with many of the residents, she keeps in touch with them, offering a different craft or activity for everyone to enjoy during each visit.
Monique said that she received such great care during her stay at Morning Pointe of Clinton, that it makes her feel good to give back.
