A group of young women from Girls Inc. of Johnson County get an up-close look at the cuddle therapy dolls used in The Lantern Alzheimer’s memory care wing of Morning Pointe of Franklin (IN). These young women spent their summer volunteering at the assisted living and memory care community, getting to know the residents and learning more about how the community operates. “The girls were fascinated with our baby dolls. It opened up the door of opportunity to speak to them about aging, the mind, and Alzheimer’s,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Mary Beth Piland. “When you take the opportunities to educate in a calm setting it is a win-win situation for everyone involve.”
