HIXSON, Tenn. — Cameron Holmes, Hixson High School student, enjoys volunteering at Morning Pointe of Hixson. During the time spent at the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community, the 10th grader has gained an education through interacting with residents in the Lantern wing and assisting with daily activities.
Playing balloon tennis, making smoothies for the afternoon Groovy Smoothie Social, and setting up for the annual Senior Idol talent show are among the many ways Holmes helps out at Morning Pointe.
“We are blessed to have him with our Hixson family,” says Christine Rivers, life enrichment director at Morning Pointe. “Cameron, like many of our volunteers, truly makes a difference in the lives of our residents. They look forward to seeing him, just as he looks forward to seeing them. The connections made are lasting and that’s what our community is all about.”
A long-time supporter of education, Morning Pointe invites students of all ages to interact with the seniors, as young and old have much to learn through intergenerational activity through the life enrichment and Meaningful Day™ programs.
