The residents of Morning Pointe of Athens (TN) got a special treat when a new group of visitors stopped by the assisted living community. In honor of Lee University’s annual Deke Day, a day of service learning inspired by the concept of diakoneo found in the Bible, 19 students visited the community to volunteer. Several played bingo with our residents while the others visited the apartments of residents who might not normally come out for activities to spend time with them. “The residents were so grateful for the students’ company. We love being able to partner with local schools,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Diane Hutsell.
