The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Lenoir City (TN) resident Grace Lang lights up at the sight of a miniature horse walking right through the memory care community’s living room! Three ponies visited The Lantern, courtesy of the Shangri-La Therapeutic Academy of Riding (STAR). “For many of our residents, it really is therapeutic to spend time in the company of animals. It can help them reconnect to memories of the pets they had growing up,” says Lantern program director Maggie Devaney. “We are so grateful to STAR for allowing our residents to spend time with these sweet creatures.”
