SPRING HILL, Tenn. (March 1, 2018) – Generosity comes naturally to Matt Brown, resident services director at Morning Pointe of Spring Hill and Exceeding Expectations award winner, who always goes above and beyond and even helped one resident get a good night’s sleep.

Phyllis Eldridge was moving into the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community and had ordered a hospital-style bed by physician’s request. The bed was scheduled for delivery that day, and Brown followed up around the clock to make sure the company fulfilled the order.

Eldridge’s bed had not arrived by that evening, leaving her with only a recliner to sleep in for the night. But after a trip to the store for bed linens and pillows, Brown and his wife decided to set up their own spare medical bed in the resident’s home that evening.

“It seemed like the right thing to do,” says Brown, who wanted to ensure the resident was as comfortable as possible. “My wife looked at me and we knew that’s when we needed to step in and do our part.”

“This is what a servant’s heart is all about,” says Tonya Watford, executive director at Morning Pointe. “Matt didn’t look for recognition or thanks. He did everything without a second thought or hesitation.”

Brown says he attributes his kind personality to his upbringing and faith, stating that his family learned the importance of caring for one another. “It’s what we learn at church,” he says. “It’s about just doing the right thing and that if anybody needs help, you do what you can.”

A member of the Morning Pointe of Spring Hill leadership team since September, Brown’s compassionate nature is seen throughout the assisted living community. Whether it is passing medications, serving lunch to residents, hanging a TV, and especially making beds, he says he is happy and that he couldn’t ask for a better place to work.

“I’m given the tools I need to do a good job,” Brown says. “This atmosphere is beyond what I expected. It is truly a family atmosphere. The residents and associates are like family to me.”

Brown and many Morning Pointe associates lead the way to quality care for seniors and their families, as each set a positive example for others in their own way as part of the Exceeding Expectations program.
