The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Lexington (KY) residents Wanda Curtis, Faye Mullins, Marion Joiner, and Francis Owens are all geared up to garden! Each week, the memory care community’s gardening club meets to discuss all things green and growing before setting out for the community’s own vegetable garden and flower beds to get their hands dirty. “So many of our residents find satisfaction in gardening,” says Lantern program director Molly Bode. “Many of them were hobbyist gardeners before coming to The Lantern, and it has been rewarding for them to stay connected with an old favorite hobby. Beyond that, they love being able to spend time outdoors, to exercise, to socialize, and to be able to make a positive and tangible contribution to their community. We are proud to offer our residents an activity that provides that deep sense of satisfaction.”
