Morning Pointe of Powell (TN) resident Bill Hood certainly seems to have his hands full with as a gaggle of Girl Scout visitors surrounds him. The scouts recently joined the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community’s male residents for a “Grandpa & Me Ice Cream Social,” breaking the ice and bonding over a shared love of sweet treats. As the scouts prepare to begin monthly visits to Morning Pointe, troop leader Tracy Jarnigan suggested that the girls meet separately with the men and women of the community in order to reduce the group size and allow for more personal interactions. “It was a huge success!” exclaims Morning Pointe life enrichment director Taylor Collins. “The girls were so excited to ask the residents questions and laughed until they couldn’t anymore. It was amazing to see their interactions, and we are now even more excited for the upcoming ‘Grandma & Me Tea’ with the scouts and our female residents!”
