Morning Pointe of Athens celebrated DEKE Day with Lee University’s first-year students.

Deke is a modern-day shorthand for diakoneo, the Greek word meaning “to serve.” On Deke Day, hundreds of first-year students travel to assisted living and retirement communities to spend quality time with seniors.

As part of the Life Enrichment Program, Morning Pointe encourages young people to interact with the residents through fun and meaningful intergenerational activities.

The seniors and students celebrated Deke day with refreshments and snacks, singing songs of faith and enjoying fellowship and a deeper understanding of one another.
