Clinton, TN- August 2015-Morning Pointe of Clinton has a wonderful relationship with many groups and organizations in the greater community, especially First Baptist Church of Clinton. Eight residents of the assisted living community are members of the church and many members from the greater community can often be found volunteering at the assisted living community.

For instance, the XYZ Singers are a large group of singers that visit once a month to entertain the residents They pass out two different song books so residents can sing along to the Hymns and “good old fashion songs.” In addition to the great music, inspirational messages are shared amongst members and residents and even a joke or two is told.

Also, on the fourth Thursday of the month, Irene Fox and her friends from First Baptist come to paly the piano and sing for residents.  Ouida Northcutt is a member of both of these groups and also comes once a month to teach an art class to the residents. Ouida is a very accomplished artist, having shown in galleries across the country.  New residents are quickly welcomed by all of the groups.

Resident Leon May received an email from First Baptist Church about a back-to-school drive and, knowing how eager Morning Pointe residents are to help others and given their great relationship with members of the church, he brought the email to Life Enrichment Director LuAnn Hanchett’s attention and asked if they could help.  LuAnn announced the drive to Morning Pointe employees and that very night, donations started coming in.

Everything from crayons to backpacks were donated by the Morning Pointe of Clinton community and before long, two large boxes of school supplies were collected and ready to be delivered to the Anderson County Schools.

So far, Morning Pointe has received thank you notes from two elementary schools and from the Clinton City Schools office. Residents were so pleased to see what a positive impact they have made for these students.
