University of Kentucky physical therapy student Morgan Rapson, Morning Pointe of Lexington-East (KY) resident Betty McIntyre, and physical therapy student Abigail Scherrer take a break from a group exercise session. Every year, the personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care community partners with the UK Department of Physical Therapy to provide students with hands-on experience. As part of their course of study, students spend several weeks in The Lantern memory care wing and are tasked with creating exercises for the residents living there. “I would love to be able to expand this partnership,” says Lantern program director Kelsey Black. “It is so rewarding to help train the next generation of caregivers and to see the positive impact they have on my residents. We are honored to be able to partner with UK.”
