COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. — The residents at Morning Pointe of Collegedale at Greenbriar Cove delivered the gift of warmth, carrying neatly folded stacks of blankets to the Choices Pregnancy Center. The blankets will go to expecting parents who are preparing to swaddle their future bundles of joy.
Polly Justice, resident at the assisted living community, enjoyed the community service activity, as the blanket deliveries brought her to her the comforting memories of motherhood.
“Our seniors had a wonderful time giving back to families during such an exciting time in their lives,” says Yahaira Cope, life enrichment director at Morning Pointe. “We are fortunate to be able to be able to serve and bring back fond memories through our life enrichment program.”
But these acts of kindness are nothing new for the residents at the assisted living community, who inspired a yearlong community service campaign called “Make Your Mark.” Residents, associates, volunteers and family members, along with partners and nonprofits, come together to help parent company Morning Pointe Senior Living reach its goal of 20,000 hours of volunteerism in 2017.
