Teepa Snow, leading dementia expert and creator of the Positive Approach to Care model of Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving, gives The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Franklin (TN) Lantern program director Ashley Briggs her seal of approval at the inaugural Positive Approach to Care Conference in Cary, North Carolina. The two-day intensive conference allowed memory care professionals from around the world to learn new, research-based techniques for communicating and engaging with those living with dementia. “As part of our Meaningful Day program, all of our Lantern associates are taught the Positive Approach to Care. I was able to gain additional hands-on training to learn how to continue to effectively translate Ms. Snow’s model to The Lantern’s dedicated care staff,” Briggs says.
