Morning Pointe Residents Attend Great Locomotive Chase Festival
Recently, the residents of Morning Pointe of Calhoun (GA) took a trip to Adairsville, Georgia to attend the Great Locomotive Chase Festival. The annual festival commemorates a Civil War-era raid on the Western and Atlantic (W&A) Railroad from Atlanta to Chattanooga, during which Union Army volunteers commandeered a train and damaged the railway as they rode toward Chattanooga, pursued by Confederate troops. It featured live entertainment, arts and crafts, tours of the locomotive museum, parades, and over 40 food vendors.
“The residents enjoyed learning about the Great Locomotive Chase,” says Lisa Caldwell, the Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Calhoun. “Julie Moore, a resident, stated that it was so interesting [to learn that] the Great Locomotive Chase came through Calhoun. We had a great day at the festival!”
