Every month, the residents of Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa (AL) seek to expand their horizons with a “Tea Talk” on a different subject. This month, the “Tea Talk” addressed recycling, featuring Ashley Chambers and Laila Gray as guest speakers. Chambers is an environmental educator for the City of Tuscaloosa, while Gray is a cadet from Girl Scout Troop 40150 who is involved with the large-scale recycling program at Englewood Elementary.
“Ashley took us the through the entire cycle, [beginning with] picking up the garbage at our homes and its [the garbage’s] path through the recycling center and landfill. We were astounded by the many [ways] in which recycling affects our environment and water,” says Karla Barksdale, the Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa. “We will be scheduling a tour of our recycling center when it gets a little cooler.”
