Morning Pointe of Hixson (TN) resident Doris Shirk admires one of the sunflowers she picked at the Smith-Perry Berries sunflower field in Ooltewah. A group of residents from the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community recently joined the scores of locals and tourists alike who flock to the family-owned farm every summer see its spectacular sunflowers. “Every year, our residents look forward to seeing the fields covered in yellow sunflowers at Smith-Perry Berries, and this year, they were especially excited to cut their own sunflowers and take them home,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Christine Rivers. “Doris has since placed hers in a vase outside her window and enjoys looking at them daily.  She says the sunflowers brighten up her day.”
