The residents of Morning Pointe of Louisville (KY) were flying high on their tour of the historic Bowman Field Airport in Louisville, Kentucky. Nearly a century old, the airport has great cultural and historical significance for the city of Louisville. When it first opened in 1921, Bowman Field Airport was Kentucky’s first commercial airport, and it remains the oldest continually operating airport in the United States. The residents of the personal community loved taking part in this piece of living history.
“We learned about all the rich history of the airport and the famous people who have flown there, like [Charles Lindbergh and] Amelia Earhart. The residents shared their memories of the airport as well,” says Hannah Cain, the Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Louisville.
