Although Morning Pointe of Hixson (TN) resident Bea Wooten (center) was born in 1920, she has only had 24 “official” birthdays to date. This is because Wooten was born on February 29 during a leap year—a date that only occurs every four years. Another leap year won’t take place until 2020, but this did not stop the associates of Morning Pointe’s The Lantern memory care wing from hosting a large celebration in honor of Wooten’s 99th year, complete with cake, ice cream, balloons, and a homemade card. Resident assistants Alex Ackerley and Rosemary Mizzell and resident Lois Martin also joined in the celebration. “We are so proud to have Bea here with us, and we wanted to do everything we could to make sure she had a magical day,” says Christine Rivers, the Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Hixson. “We’re already looking forward to celebrating her birthday next year—the day she finally turns 25!”
