Morning Pointe Veterans Honored With Handmade Quilts
The volunteers from the Quilts of Valor Foundation know that there is nothing more thoughtful, more appreciative than a handmade gift. Founded in 2003, The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a group of thousands of volunteer quilters from all across the United States. Their mission is to honor service members and veterans who have been touched by war with comforting and healing quilts. To date, they have awarded handmade quilts to 195,540 veterans to thank them for their service.
Recently, Quilts of Valor honored veterans from Morning Pointe of Chattanooga (TN), giving each veteran from the senior living community their own quilt along with a certificate announcing their service to the country. After being called to the front, each veteran was wrapped with their quilt, offering warmth and comfort when needed, and given a hug of appreciation for their service.
“Each veteran was so appreciative and honored to be recognized and given the special gifts,” says Holly Holcomb, the Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga.
