CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Summer Blizzard, director of business optimization at Morning Pointe Senior Living, was listening to the radio one morning when an advertisement promoted Dairy Queen’s seasonal dessert – Summer Blizzard — her name.
Summer is around the corner, which means cool refreshing treats are in season. So Blizzard decided to pay the Dairy Queen on Gunbarrel Road a visit, bringing with her the residents at Morning Pointe’s local assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care communities.
“I thought it was funny when it finally hit me that they were saying my name,” says the Georgetown, TN resident who says her visit to Dairy Queen was welcoming. “We had a wonderful trip. Cat, the manager, and Magan, another associate were so accommodating to our group.”
And while Summer enjoyed the Summer Berry Cheesecake Blizzard, her “hands down” favorite is the Cookie Dough Blizzard with extra cookie dough. But the experience wouldn’t have been special without the Morning Pointe residents enjoying it with her. The seniors enjoy outings to their favorite classic restaurants as part of the life enrichment and Meaningful Day™ programs.
“Ice cream is a timeless treat that can be enjoyed by people of all ages,” Blizzard says. “Everyone has memories of their favorite desserts, and I’m glad that our residents get to enjoy a little taste of their youth while making new memories together.”
