The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Collegedale hosted a barbecue fundraiser August 4, at Elder’s Ace Hardware of Ooltewah, benefiting the Mid-South Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.
As part of the Meaningful Day™ programming, the memory care community raises funds on behalf of local non-profit organizations that spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease to families and caregivers.
The Lantern at Collegedale residents and associates raised $600 in exchange for barbecue pulled pork, pulled chicken and veggie sandwiches with all of the fixings, prepared by Alex Haynes, food services director at The Lantern at Collegedale.
“We want to send a big thank you to all who came out to support this great cause,” says Dawn Dunn, Program Director at The Lantern at Collegedale. “We also want to send many thanks to Elder’s Ace Hardware for giving us the space to host this event.”
The next barbecue fundraiser will take place Wednesday, August 31, 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Elder’s Ace Hardware in Ooltewah.
