Residents at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Lexington enjoyed helping kids in need get a head start for the school year.
The memory care residents participated in local Mattress Firm’s school supply drive to support local foster children, donating notebooks, folders, pencils and rulers.
The seniors helped deliver packages, including Shirley Welch, Morning Pointe resident and retired school teacher, who was especially eager to help in any way she could.
Welch said much about her passion for children, recounting stories of her days as a school teacher. She said it “felt really good to help with such a great cause.”
