Morning Pointe of Tuscaloosa residents explored the planting and nurturing of herbs with volunteer Kristan Oravec.
Oravec is an avid gardener whose love for herbs became her hobby. She was invited to the assisted living community to help residents find their own green thumb.
As part of the Life Enrichment Program, Morning Pointe gives residents the opportunity to explore the many therapeutic benefits of gardening.
On tables covered with layers of newspaper, the residents filled planters with organic potting soil, fresh herbs and lots of care. While at work, seniors shared stories about their own gardens. Feeling the texture of the moist soil on their fingers, the seniors enjoyed the sensory experience as they created container gardens for everyone to enjoy.
