On June 30, Doug Burrell, Maintenance Director at Morning Pointe of Athens, said goodbye after more than nine years at the assisted living community.
And his retirement party wouldn’t be complete without a surprise from nearly 80 friends and relatives, including his family of Morning Pointe residents and associates.
A custom cake was designed for Burrell that read “No Work Ahead” and “Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension.” And a handcrafted card, using candy bars in place of words, was gifted to the now retired maintenance director.
“I am very much honored and very surprised,” said Burrell. ” I will miss everyone here and love everyone dearly.”
A devoted associate, Burrell received the Southern Region Exceeding Expectation award in 2013 for his exceptional service at Morning Pointe.
“He is adored by many and will be truly missed,” says Shelby Wilson, Life Enrichment Director at Morning Pointe.
