A couple of residents at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, Lexington enjoy visiting a local park so much, they decided to adopt it.

Jean Anderson and Carol Downs, residents at the memory care community, decided to become citizen stewards of Wellington Park, keeping the site tidy for all to enjoy.

As part of the Meaningful Day™ program, Morning Pointe residents participate in community service projects to keep the places they enjoy beautiful for everyone.

One morning a week, Anderson and Downs pull on a pair of garden gloves and gather trash cans and “reacher-grabber” sticks to get to work. When their work is done, Downs enjoys the park’s flowers, while Anderson enjoys watching children and pets play.
