Morning Pointe of Richmond (KY) resident Marjorie Miniard plays with associate Marie Laws’s Shih Tzu, Dolly, as though she were an old friend. “It is so important to us to regularly schedule pet therapy visitors because many of our residents receive genuine comfort from spending time with animals,” says Kathy West, the life enrichment director at the personal care community. “The residents love meeting and playing with dogs, but we are trying to get other types of pets to come as well. In the past, we’ve had some rabbits and even a chicken visit us, and I’d love to schedule some cuddle time with a friendly cat.”
