Morning Pointe of Powell (TN) resident Pat Sparks reads to a group of kindergartners at Powell Elementary School. Twice a month, residents from the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community visit the school to volunteer. “Volunteering at the elementary school is an intergenerational activity, which provides the residents with the opportunity to interact with children and vice versa,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Taylor Collins. “They tell each other stories and laugh together. It’s wonderful to watch, and the residents look forward to volunteering each time.”
