Tennessee State University occupational therapy student Ginny Monahan and Morning Pointe of Spring Hill (TN) resident Lois Pratt work together to make popcorn bird feeders. Once a week, TSU occupational therapy students visit the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community to lead exercise classes and the gardening club. “Each week, the students try to choose a new activity for the gardening club in order to keep things fresh and interesting. They chose to do this activity because it allows the residents to work on keeping their hands steady while helping with their overall focus,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Emily Gleaves. “We are so grateful for our partnership with the TSU occupational therapy program and for the many wonderful student volunteers that it brings us!”
