The Whiteland High School girls’ volleyball team and the residents of Morning Pointe of Franklin (IN) celebrate an afternoon of fun and friendly competition together. Once a year, the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care community challenges the girls’ volleyball team to a game of beach ball volleyball, and this year, the students found that the residents’ skills had vastly improved thanks to lots of practice. “One of our standout players was resident Donna King. After three intense games, the girls asked Donna if she was interested in being on their team. It was great. You could not wipe the smile off of Donna’s face,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Mary Beth Piland. “It was a win-win situation for everyone!”
