That was the focus of a recent community event at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton Assisted Living, where Chattanooga attorney, author and speaker Nancy A. Cogar shared information from her BoomerTime™ Blueprint with local seniors, families, caregivers and community members.
The presentation gave attendees an opportunity to ask questions, learn more about planning for their later years and consider steps they can take now to help protect themselves and their families.
“The right plan can save a lot of future heartache and stress when unexpected events come up,” said Cogar. “It’s so much more than having a power of attorney, a will or a trust. Those are foundational and critical. Having a personal and comprehensive plan in place for your older years makes all the difference between a crisis and preserving your quality of life.”

“I work in an industry where I see a lot of folks, families that need this type of assistance, or might be needing it in the future, or already have,” Smith said. “It’s just a big need, and so, again, I’m just trying to see what resources are available for some people I know personally, and some folks I might meet in the future.”
Smith said the event also gave him an opportunity to learn more about Morning Pointe of East Hamilton, including the services and resources available to seniors and their families.
His perspective reflects the broader importance of community education when it comes to aging. Families do not always know when they will need additional support, and learning about available resources before a crisis occurs can help them make more informed decisions when the time comes.
