DANVILLE, Ky. (September 23, 2026) — Samantha Weingeroff, Community Relations Director at Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living, has been recognized by the Danville Fire Department for her quick response during a medical emergency at the community, where she immediately put her CPR training into action and helped provide critical assistance until first responders arrived.
Weingeroff knows that unexpected situations can arise when caring for older adults. What she didn’t expect was for one to unfold in the middle of a community tour that afternoon. While showing a prospective resident and her family member around Morning Pointe, an unexpected emergency occurred, and Weingeroff stepped in to help.
“I wasn’t thinking about recognition or becoming a hero that day,” Weingeroff said. “I simply saw she needed help, and I was going to do just that.”
The experience took on an even greater meaning when the family later returned to Morning Pointe. Their first priority was finding Weingeroff and sharing the news with her.
“I’m here to check on Samantha. She saved my sister’s life,” the family member told the Morning Pointe team.
Weingeroff said she is grateful that the training and knowledge she has gained through Morning Pointe prepared her to respond when it mattered.
“I am thankful for the skills and knowledge that Morning Pointe has provided me to be able to help someone in need just as I did for her,” Weingeroff said. “That day will be one I will never forget.”
Tanya Roberts, director of nursing at Morning Pointe of Danville, said Weingeroff’s response demonstrated the importance of being prepared to act when an unexpected situation arises.
“We are incredibly proud of Samantha,” Roberts said. “She saw that someone needed help, and she didn’t hesitate. She put her training into action and stayed focused on what needed to be done. That kind of response says a lot about who she is and the people who make up our Morning Pointe team.”
Although the Danville Fire Department’s recognition has given Weingeroff an opportunity to reflect on the experience, she remains grateful for the chance to have helped someone in need.
“Words cannot describe how honored I am to receive such an amazing award from the Danville Fire Department,” Weingeroff said. “I’m grateful we all were in the right place at the right time, and I could make a difference in someone else’s life.”
