On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Morning Pointe of Richmond, Kentucky, will host the mayor of Hokuto City, Japan, and several of his delegates on their visit to Hokuto’s “sister city,” Madison County, Kentucky.

The nine Japanese delegates, interpreter and members of the hosting Madison County International Committee will tour the senior living campus, do a short presentation for residents and their families about their culture and the Sister City program and attend a lunch provided by Morning Pointe.

Morning Pointe representatives will present Mayor Kamimura with a print of the painting “Renewal” that the company commissioned in honor of its 25th anniversary. The artwork, which symbolizes rebirth and strength, is provided in partnership with the artist, Alan Shuptrine, who is a nationally acclaimed watercolor painter in the American Southeast. A hand-painted reproduction of the painting hangs prominently in each of Morning Pointe’s campuses, including Morning Pointe of Richmond. The mayor will also receive a copy of Shuptrine’s coffee table book featuring several dogwood paintings.

“We are so excited and honored to have been asked to host this visit as the community of choice for a tour of a senior care community,” said Cristy Winkler, executive director at Morning Pointe of Richmond. “Our residents are really excited to welcome our visitors and learn more about the culture of Japan.”
