Morning Pointe Senior Living was honored to have Retired Admiral Scott Swift as the keynote speaker for its Annual Conference, held in Chattanooga.
Swift served in the Navy from 1979 to 2018. His service includes commanding the U.S. Pacific Fleet, serving as director of Navy staff at the Pentagon and participating in Operations Praying Mantis, Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He is a four-star general and, as the 35th commander of the Pacific Fleet, he was headquartered at Pearl Harbor, so his speaking on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day was especially meaningful.
During the session, Swift spoke about recognizing opportunities for an organization’s growth and overcoming challenges. He recognized that people and relationships, particularly staff, are key to an organization accomplishing its goals.
“The most important thing that you do is build relationships,” Swift said.
He added, “The most important byproduct of building relationships is trust, and the metric of trust is loyalty.”
Swift shared the importance of vulnerability in leadership, as well as training and two-way communication.
Attendees at the conference included leaders within Morning Pointe Senior Living’s corporate office, as well as regional leaders and Executive Directors from the company’s buildings throughout the Southeast.
