Morning Pointe campuses to virtual travel to Olympic city sites in 2024

list of Morning Pointe in Motion locations for 2024

With the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Morning Pointe Senior Living communities are showcasing Olympic sites as part of their activities.

Each month, Morning Pointe’s assisted living, senior living and memory care campuses focus on a different location as part of the Morning Pointe in Motion virtual travel program. Morning Pointe communities offer multiple activities each day to appeal to residents’ varied interests and engage them in meaningful ways. Morning Pointe believes that aging should be a time of continued growth and development for assisted living/senior living residents and that even in memory care, residents can still find joyful and meaningful moments to enrich their lives.

“The Olympics offer a unique way to see the world, and many people may not realize how much each of the host cities have to offer in the way of history, culture, cuisine and more,” said Amanda Yelenick, Morning Pointe’s vice president of life enrichment. “I can’t wait to see how our Life Enrichment teams feature these cities to engage residents, learn together about these locations and have fun while they’re at it. We also encourage volunteers in each of our wider communities who may have lived in or visited these cities to share their stories or showcase photos or other mementos of these places.”

The cities for 2024 include:

  • January – Lillehammer, Norway (Winter 1994 Games)
  • February – Vancouver, Canada (Winter 2010 Games)
  • March – Sochi, Russia (Winter 2014 Games)
  • April – Athens, Greece (Summer 2004 Games)
  • May – Sydney, Australia (Summer 2000 Games)
  • June – Rio De Janeiro, Brazil (Summer 2016 Games)
  • July – Tokyo, Japan (Summer 2020 Games)
  • August – Paris, France (Summer 2024 Games)
  • September – London, United Kingdom (Summer 2012 Games)
  • October – Lake Placid, New York (Winter 1980 Games)
  • November – Beijing, China (Winter 2022 Games)
  • December – Turin, Italy (Winter 2006 Games)

Campuses “visit” the locations through videos, crafts, travel sharing from those who have been to those places, guest speakers, outings, games, trivia and specialty foods. The themes give a direction for multi-sensory engagement.

In 2023, Morning Pointe in Motion celebrated cities in the United States, starting with Memphis and ending with Oahu.

“The Morning Pointe in Motion program allows our residents to bring back memories of trips they have taken in years past, as well as to explore and learn more about areas they have never been,” said Greg Vital, Morning Pointe co-founder and president. “We are pleased to bring this culturally enriching programming to our residents, and tying in to the Olympics this year will make the program extra-special.”

Founded in 1997 by Tennessee healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and Franklin Farrow, Morning Pointe Senior Living owns and operates 37 assisted living, personal care and Alzheimer’s memory care communities in five southeastern states.
