Morning Pointe Senior Living communities are nearing the end of a company-wide virtual summer cornhole tournament, and Morning Pointe of Chattanooga is leading the way with eight wins and only one loss! The round-robin tournament is being held virtually as Morning Pointe communities across the Southeast display their competitive spirit through a series of matches played out online as part of the Morning Pointe In Motion wellness program.

“You can feel the competitive energy from this team just by walking in the doors of the building!” said Chattanooga senior life enrichment director Holly Holcomb. “Our cornhole team is out to win! But more importantly, these games provide opportunities to engage in wellness activities that keep us moving and strategizing. It’s amazing what a little healthy competition will do for the soul.”

The cornhole tournament started out here among the Chattanooga-area Morning Pointe communities nearly four years ago—but word traveled fast about how much fun these seniors were having. Other campuses decided they wanted to join in the fun, too! Soon, Morning Pointe residents at buildings in Kentucky and surrounding states were added into the mix. In all, ten teams made up this summer’s bracket. The tournament will wrap up in just a couple of weeks, with Morning Pointe of Chattanooga projected to be the overall winner.

“Cornhole means competition, excitement, fellowship, and satisfaction when your team wins,” said Morning Pointe of Chattanooga resident Les Frazier.

Morning Pointe Senior Living, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, develops, owns, and manages 35 Morning Pointe assisted living, personal care, and The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence communities in five southeastern states.

“As senior adults age, it is important that they are given opportunities to stay active,” said Morning Pointe Senior Living president Greg A. Vital. “At Morning Pointe, we strive to provide residents daily exercise and physical activities that engage the mind, body, and spirit, and it’s wonderful to see residents having fun while competing!”
