The deadline to audition for Morning Pointe Foundation’s 6th Annual Seniors Got Talent show is approaching next Friday, Sept. 6.
The show, presented in partnership with Morning Pointe Senior Living, will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m., at The Franklin Theatre at 419 Main Street. Tryouts are open to all seniors ages 60+ with any kind of performing talent. Online audition videos are being accepted online at morningpointefoundation.com/seniorsgottalent/. The Foundation will choose the best 10 acts to perform on stage at the big show.
The grand-prize winner will receive $1,000, with $500 for second place and $250 for third place. Contestants will be judged on technical ability, stage presence and professionalism, appearance/costume, difficulty of act and originality/creativity. Audience members will vote for the People’s Choice winner at $1 per vote, with proceeds going to the Morning Pointe Foundation.
“If you are 60 or up and have a dream of performing at The Franklin Theatre, don’t let this opportunity pass you by,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “We look forward to our Franklin show and giving seniors here in the Nashville area a chance to prove that age is just a number.”
So far, auditions have included singers, dancers, guitarists and more.
Tickets for the Morning Pointe Foundation Seniors Got Talent show are available now at The Franklin Theatre website or morningpointefoundation.com. They are just $10. The show has sold out the past two years, so early purchases are recommended.
Proceeds from Seniors Got Talent go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization, to support nursing and other college scholarships. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. It was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund scholarships that advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.
The emcee for this year’s show is Lisa Spencer, chief meteorologist at News4 WSMV; this is her fifth year as host. Last year’s judges are also returning. They are Rich Eckhardt, one of the most well-known guitarists in Nashville; Alex Tinker IV, Open Mic Night emcee at Leiper’s Fork’s on “Fox and Locke”; Jim Hagaman, mayor of Spring Hill who has been involved in musical performance and theater; and Mackenzie Wasner, country music artist.
