She Missed Prom Once. Decades Later, She Finally Got Her Moment.

FRANKFORT, Ky. —April 10, 2026— For many, prom is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. But for some older adults, it was a moment they never had.

At The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Frankfort, that changed.

Residents recently gathered for the community’s very first Senior Prom, transforming an ordinary day into something deeply meaningful. Associates took extra time with each resident, helping them get ready, offering moments of pampering, and making sure everyone felt seen, celebrated, and special. The room filled with laughter, music, and the kind of joy that doesn’t need much explanation.

For one resident, Ginger Tucker, the moment carried even more weight. Crowned Prom Queen, she shared that she never had the opportunity to attend prom when she was younger.

“To see her light up like that, you could tell this wasn’t just a dance. It was something she had waited a lifetime for,” said Julia Wash, Lantern Program Coordinator.

Keith Taylor, named Prom King, was visibly emotional as he was crowned, taking in the encouragement and support surrounding him.

The Lantern memory care community is part of a full-service Morning Pointe Senior Living campus in Frankfort, with assisted living available next door. Together, the campus offers a continuum of care designed to support residents and families as needs change, while still focusing on meaningful, everyday experiences like this one.

Events like this are part of the community’s focus on creating moments that connect residents to their past while bringing joy into the present.

At The Lantern, even something as simple as a dance can become something unforgettable.
