Morning Pointe of Athens (TN) residents Shirley Bott and Brenda Rogers work hard to snap beans, which the assisted living community’s kitchen staff will use to prepare the residents’ dinner. As part of Morning Pointe’s “Farm-to-Table” program, local farms, like Red Clay Farms in Cleveland, provide the community with fresh produce for residents to enjoy. According to Morning Pointe life enrichment director Diane Hutsell, residents leap at the chance to take ownership of their food. “When there are items such as beans to snap or corn to shuck, the residents love getting their hands dirty. It’s a great trigger of memories for many of our residents who had gardens before moving to Morning Pointe,” she says. (Second Photo)
