Morning Pointe of Powell (TN) resident Eloise Hodge, volunteer Amanda Rogers of Tennova, and resident Jo Rosenbalm admire their healthy handiwork. In honor of International Self-Care Day, the assisted living and memory care community’s residents made heart-healthy snacks with Rogers’s assistance, including apple slices with peanut butter, granola, and trail mix. “Self-care is about more than just doing what feels good in the moment—it is about taking care of yourself and your body in the long term,” says Morning Pointe life enrichment director Taylor Collins. “Thanks to Amanda, the residents were able to learn about healthy alternatives to some of their favorite foods that still satisfy their sweet tooth. They loved having a healthy snack and are already wanting more!”
