Celebrating Volunteer Week

At Morning Pointe Senior Living communities, volunteers are the essential to our mission of helping seniors live their best lives. During National Volunteer Week, April 20-26, we’re celebrating the incredible people of all ages who give their time, talents, and heart to our residents. From students planting flowers in our gardens to retired teachers leading book clubs, every volunteer brings something uniquely special—and leaves with something just as meaningful.

Across our campuses, you’ll find volunteers of every generation lending a hand and building genuine friendships with residents. Whether it’s through music, art, bringing a pet for some puppy love, playing games, or simply sharing stories, these connections enrich daily life and create moments of joy for everyone involved.

Volunteers, Gators, and Bean Bag Baseball a Special Connection

To celebrate our volunteers, we sat down with Elizabeth Morris, an 83-year-old Morning Pointe Senior Living assisted living resident, and long-time volunteer Suzanne McNeil. Suzanne got involved with volunteering six years ago through her church. She and her son Ben came to help with bean bag baseball, a popular activity.

“I fell in love with the community and the people,” Suzanne shared. “This is a place that I want to invest time in. It’s been an unexpected treasure for me.”

Over time, Suzanne has gotten to know each resident by name and has built a special bond with Elizabeth… even though they support opposing sports teams. Suzanne is an avid Tennessee Vols fan, and Elizabeth cheers for the Florida Gators. When Suzanne won tickets to a men’s basketball game between the two teams, she knew she wanted to bring Elizabeth with her to share the experience.

“It was real treat,” Elizabeth said. “I was thrilled that I got to go. We made a memory.”

Building Relationships Every Day

As we recognize National Volunteer Week, we are reminded that it’s not about the number of hours served—it’s about the lives touched. Special moments big and small happen all the time between our volunteers and residents. At Morning Pointe, we are deeply grateful for every volunteer who helps our residents feel seen, heard, and loved. Their presence not only brings companionship but inspires hope and happiness across our communities.

If you’ve ever considered volunteering, we invite you to join us. No matter your age or background, there’s a place for you here. Together, we can continue making a difference—one smile, one conversation, and one meaningful moment at a time. Visit our Locations page to find a Morning Pointe community near you.
