Morning Pointe Senior Living is celebrating 25 years of service to seniors throughout 2022 and will mark the milestone with a special 25th anniversary watercolor painting unveiling at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga at 7719 Shallowford Road on July 13 at 10 am.
Regional artist Alan Shuptrine was commissioned by Morning Pointe’s co-founders, Greg Vital and Franklin Farrow, shortly after the assisted living and Alzheimer’s memory care company rebuilt two of its Chattanooga communities devastated in the 2020 Easter tornado. Morning Pointe of Chattanooga staff and residents planted a dogwood tree to mark the one-year anniversary of the tornado and symbolize rebirth, resurrection and resilience. From there, the art project was born, and Morning Pointe tasked Shuptrine, a nationally renowned artist and master craftsman with a long history of painting southern regional art.
“While this special dogwood tree watercolor initially represented the rebirth of the two Chattanooga area communities following the tornado, we felt that it was very much symbolic of the work of Morning Pointe over the last 25 years of serving seniors,” explained Greg Vital, president of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “It is a true reflection of Morning Pointe associates, residents and families.”
The piece, titled “Renewal,” is the largest watercolor painting by Shuptrine of the dogwood. Measuring almost 4 feet by 4 feet, the painting is a composition of dogwood blossoms, flowering across the canvas in rich colors and amazing detail.
The original painting is located in Morning Pointe’s corporate office in Cambridge Square in Ooltewah, with special renditions hand-painted and signed by Shuptrine hanging in each of Morning Pointe’s buildings in the southeast.
