“I remind my staff members during every training that our memory care residents remember how they feel. They remember how well we care for them.” — Beth Janney, RN, corporate director of memory care at Morning Pointe Senior Living
The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence is exclusively designed for the specialized care of those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of memory loss disorders. Our community approach is based on the latest in Alzheimer’s research and our history of providing exceptional care and innovative programming since 1996.
Community design, apartment layout, and room colors along with purposeful activities and monitoring have all been developed to optimize independence and quality of life. Residents are nurtured wholly in mind, body and spirit in a calming and compassionate environment. We see ourselves as part of the solution that can enrich lives with comfort, security and positive support.
At Morning Pointe, a wide variety of activities, musical performances and regular visits from students of all ages make up a life enrichment program that encourages connecting with others and creates meaningful days. The large and small group activities in The Lantern are designed for shorter segments, engaging the residents and encouraging more individualized programming.
The Lantern is a specialized program for persons with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of memory loss.
Our staff is available to nurture and help maintain each resident’s individuality, dignity and quality of life through meaningful activities and needs-based programming. By investing time and attention in understanding prior roles, routines and interests of each resident, our staff provides individualized programming that truly focuses on quality of life.
We have developed the components of a Meaningful Day™ at The Lantern, adding a personalized focus to purposeful programming that moves each resident through the day. Engaging activities include Cuddle Therapy with lifelike dolls that promotes calming and a connection with parenthood that helps promote memory, engagement, and better communication through creative group programming. The following description of the components of a Meaningful Day is simply an overview of the types of programming available in The Lantern.
