Residents Move In To New Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Memory Care Campus In Powell

On July 7, residents began moving into the completed The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Powell.
The 21 residents from the memory care wing of Morning Pointe of Powell senior living made the move with the help of associates, family members and even some University of Tennessee students, who engaged the residents in activities and helped carry boxes.
The Lantern is the second phase of the state-of-the-art Morning Pointe of Powell senior living campus, which is now capable of providing specialized assisted living and memory care for over 120 seniors.

The 33,000-square-foot Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence community, located at 7710 Dannaher Drive on the Tennova Healthcare campus, consists of 44 suites created specifically to meet the needs of residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory care needs.

“Moving that many memory care residents into a new home is not a small task,” said Jennifer Ricker, executive director at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Powell. “With the amazing support we had, I feel like it went smoothly, and we thank everyone who assisted. We tried to keep the residents’ routines as steady as possible. They are settling into their new home, and we look forward to welcoming other new residents as well.”

The Lantern maintains a strong focus on clinical care with innovative therapies such as Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach® to Care and Morning Pointe’s Meaningful Day™. This purposeful, structured programming ensures the highest quality of care for residents and helps them feel safe and secure.

Beautiful, secure courtyards showcase walking paths, sitting areas and gathering spots for residents to enjoy the outdoors. Physical and occupational therapies, medication management, life enrichment and wellness programming, as well intergenerational activities, round out the wide array of healthcare services offered. In addition, all residents enjoy local, delicious Farm-to-Table fresh food and ingredients tailored specifically for residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

“We are pleased to open The Lantern Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Powell,” said Greg A. Vital, president and co-founder of Morning Pointe Senior Living. “This is Morning Pointe’s 25th anniversary year, and what better way to celebrate than to open a beautiful new building with well-trained staff who know how to care for our residents with memory care needs. This is not just a care facility – it is a home, and we are glad to be able to welcome new members of the Morning Pointe family, whether they be residents, family members or our associates.”
