Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent Auditions End Aug. 2, Tickets on Sale Now

Talented seniors ages 60+ have only a few weeks left to audition for the Morning Pointe Foundation’s 5th Annual Seniors Got Talent show on Sept. 10 at the Lexington Opera House.

The show, presented in partnership with Morning Pointe Senior Living, will take place at 7 p.m. and feature a variety of talented senior acts.

Online audition videos will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 2, at morningpointefoundation.com/seniorsgottalent/. Auditions are open to all seniors age 60+. Examples of acts include singers, musicians, comedians, dancers or any performing talent. The top acts will be chosen to perform in the Morning Pointe Foundation Seniors Got Talent Show.

The grand-prize winner will receive $1,000, and prizes will also be given to second- ($500) and third-place ($250) winners. Contestants will be judged on technical ability, stage presence and professionalism, appearance/costume, difficulty of act and originality/creativity. A People’s Choice winner will be determined by attendee votes.

“I encourage all talented seniors in the Lexington area to try out, to give it a shot,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “We have seen some great performers so far, and it’s such a unique opportunity to show that seniors can still shine. We have a great audience, and you can win up to $1,000.”

The show also serves as a good space for discovering talent. One of Morning Pointe Foundation’s Seniors Got Talent shows in 2023 led to the discovery of a comedian by the America’s Got Talent team, Corkey Miller. She is scheduled to appear on the show on Tuesday, July 23.

Tickets for the Morning Pointe Foundation Seniors Got Talent show are available now at the Lexington Opera House website or morningpointefoundation.com. They are $10 plus Ticketmaster and other fees.

Proceeds from the show go to the Morning Pointe Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit public service organization, to support nursing and other college scholarships. The Morning Pointe Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. The Foundation was created in 2014 to provide caregiver support programs, sponsor educational awareness events and fund scholarships that advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.

Emcees for this year’s show will be Doug and Lyssa High, co-anchors at ABC 36 News in Lexington.

The Morning Pointe Foundation hosts four Seniors Got Talent shows each year. Besides Lexington, shows are held in Chattanooga, Franklin and Knoxville, Tennessee.
